Students are supposed to study the graduate program of Electrical and Computer Engineering. So, they are required to have sufficient background knowledge for the graduate program. If you lack background knowledge for Electrical and Computer Engineering, you have to take many classes from ECE department in Seoul National University.
Depending on your language fluency, we will find an appropriate level of class. If you’re fluent in Korea, you don’t have to take any Korean language classes. We can discuss about what you want and find the best way for you.
Tuition is fully covered per semester based on the Seoul National University Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate program rates. Additionally, monthly living expenses of 1,400,000 KRW (including dormitory fees) are provided.
GSSS makes efforts to help students secure dormitory accommodations whenever possible. While dormitories are generally available for international students, some may reside in off-campus housing near the campus if accommodations are unavailable.
The flight ticket to Seoul will be supported by GSSS Program.
You can apply as long as you meet other eligibility requirements, even without a Korean language certificate. However, basic Korean proficiency is important for living in Korea and eventually joining Samsung. If you are selected as a GSSSP scholar, we will provide full support to help you learn Korean.
After completing the GSSS program and obtaining your degree, you will work in a semiconductor-related department within Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions (DS) division. The specific department will be determined based on Samsung's HR policies and your field of study and expertise.
The employment period at Samsung after graduation is twice the duration of the scholarship period. For example, if you received the scholarship for 2 years, you are required to work at Samsung for at least 4 years.
GSSSP students may have the opportunity to participate in internships or camp programs offered by Samsung Electronics' DS Division during the vacation period.
The availability and schedule of these programs may vary each year depending on circumstances, and detailed information will be provided separately.
Internships are intended to provide practical experience and prepare students for future department placements, and company-led training programs may also be offered if necessary.
In addition, students must meet a certain level of language proficiency to participate in the programs, with accepted tests including TOEFL, IELTS, CEFR, and TEPS.
